A day of shopping turned violent for a central Kentucky woman.
Pamela Martin says she was robbed by a woman Monday evening while taking packages to her car in the parking lot of Fayette Mall.
"I just started walking back to my van, it was some distance away, and I was just screaming, 'I've been robbed,'" Martin said.
Martin talked to 27 NEWSFIRST in the parking lot of Fayette Mall Tuesday. The robbery happened in the Dillard's end of the parking lot.
"I was concentrating on putting things back in the van," Martin said. "All of a sudden I looked up and she grabbed my arm, literally grabbed my arm jerked my purse, garment bag and took off towards the vehicle."
Martin says she chased the robber to an SUV, who was waiting for the woman with a man in the driver's seat.
"I grabbed her from behind, trying to retrieve my things and I really grabbed her as hard as I could, screaming the whole time 'Give me my purse.'" Martin said.
As Martin hung out the SUV's window, she said the driver suddenly took off.
"And I remember thinking, oh Lord, help me I'm gonna get run over," Martin said.
Martin eventually fell to the ground, hitting her head, and watched what she describes as a black and tan Ford Expedition drive off.
"I was literally stunned," Martin said.
However, Martin says she's not letting the robber take anything else from her.
"I will not let them stop me from coming shopping. I'll just be more careful," Martin said. "People just need to be weary of their surroundings, take a look, take notice. Just be as safe as you can."
Police arrived in the parking lot within minutes Monday night, but the suspects were long gone.
While officers did find Martin's wallet in the parking lot, she still lost her purse, cell phone, and $500 worth of clothes.
This was the second robbery in the Fayette Mall parking lot this month.
On December 9, a woman says a man stole money and her wedding ring, then pushed her to the ground.
That robbery also happened in the part of the parking lot outside Dillard's.
