Lexington, KY. -- The East End Family Reunion Coalition and the Center for Families and Community Services would like to invite community members to plant a seed for the future by joining the 1st Annual Planting Seeds for the Future Skate/Walk on August 9, 2014 at 9:00 A.M. The start location is Charles Young Community Center, 540 East Third Street. All proceeds will be used to establish programs at Charles Young Community Center that significantly improves the educational and developmental outcomes of the children living in the inner-city of LFUC. The proposed programming will include afterschool supplemental academic support to help children meet state and local academic standards in school, as well as activities that promote physical development, such as skating. Our overall goal is to encourage children to reach their fullest potential and foster a sense of pride and comradery.
The East End Family Reunion Coalition is a non- profit organization with the sole goal of keeping the family and community ties alive in the Historic East End of Lexington. The Coalition has been a consistent voice for positive community development and family cohesiveness. For the past ten years, the Coalition has hosted the annual East-End Family Reunion, which has brought family and friends from around the country for one of the most peaceful events in the city of Lexington.
Since 1987, The Center for Families and Community Services (CFCS) has evolved into a major driving force for addressing the needs of vulnerable and underserved populations in Lexington Fayette Urban and surrounding counties. The CFCS is a nonprofit 509 © (3) agency, whose mission is to meet the unique educational, training, information and support needs of low-income, minority, limited-English proficient children, and members of their families who face barriers to educational, social, and cultural opportunities. Our overall goal is to empower children and whole families to overcome barriers to self-sufficiency
