LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Former Lexington Police Chief Anthany Beatty officially kicked off his campaign for Lexington mayor Tuesday night.
Beatty spoke to supporters at the Embassy Suites on Newtown Pike.
He says he chose Tuesday, April 15, as his kickoff day, to remind voters that the taxes they pay support his platform of public safety, public service, and fiscal responsibility.
"The reality is that Lexington is more than a downtown," Beatty said. "It's our neighborhoods, suburbs, farms, and agricultures, and businesses small and large. All the people, all the places, all the time."
Beatty faces incumbent Mayor Jim Gray, and college professor Danny Mayer in the May 20 non-partisan primary.
The top two finishers in the primary advance to November.
