Former Kentucky lawmaker Steve Nunn has been ordered to undergo a mental evaluation.
Nunn appeared in court Friday morning where a judge ruled he be sent for the evaluation.
The results will take about 4 to six weeks, then the findings will be discussed in court in February.
Nunn is charged with shooting and killing is former fiancee', Amanda Ross, outside her Lexington town home this past September.
Nunn's attorney says he needs the mental evaluation because he fears the time Nunn has spent behind bars has impacted him so much physically and mentally that he can no longer participate in building his defense.
