"Green" Entrepreneur Program

Kentucky Student Ventures Corporation (KSVC) is looking for Low-income 18-24 year olds in Lexington to participate in in an innovative program the provides work experience and entrepreneurial training for "green" business plan development to economically disadvantaged young adults in Lexington.

If the participants attend each day and show an interest in starting their own business, they will be enrolled formally in the program that starts Jan 19 for eight weeks (Bluegrass ADD has another work program for those participants are not interested in starting their own :green" business.

Participants will begin earning $7.25 per hour six hours of day for the following 40 business days. After the first week, they will be put into a work assignment at a Lexington business and will work 3 days per week. All:he participants will go through ten days of an entrepreneur boot camp, training, get basic computer training and they will form teams and be coached on developing a "green" business plan. During the final week, they will update a their resume, prepare a personal portfolio and prepare a presentation that each team member will participate in the presentation to a panel of entrepreneur reviewers.

This is a pilot program and KSVC's third contract. Last summer, KSVC was awarded two contracts to manage Bluegrass Goes Green and Green Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute (GEL-IN). We hired 23 green team coaches, managed almost 200 low-income youth participants in 19 Kentucky counties during a six week summer youth program.
