Lexington Police are asking for anyone who might have witnessed an accident last week involving a wrong way driver to come forward.

40-year old Connie Layne died last Tuesday evening after the crash on New Circle Road, near Tates Creek in Lexington.

Police say 24-year-old Adam Leake was driving in the wrong direction and hit Layne head-on. They say he also side-swiped another vehicle.

"Our suspicions right now lead us to believe he possibly was drinking at the time", says Sgt. Paul Simms with Lexington Police.

Lexington Police say they are currently waiting for his toxicology results to come back. It could take several more weeks. Leake hasn't been charged in the incident and family members tell 27 Newsfirst he has been transferred from UK Hospital to Good Samaritan Hospital.

Layne's family says they're hoping more witnesses will come forward who saw Leake driving.

"With anything they can tell. This man did this decision on his own and he took away a beautiful soul that our family has tragically lost and it's hard to deal with", says Garlene Layne-Abshire, the aunt of Connie Layne.

Late this afternoon Bryan Leake, the father of Adam Leake, released this statement.
"The Leake family extends their deepest sympathy and has maintained Connie Layne and her family in our hearts and prayers. Heaven has gained a wonderful soul. Our family will continue to lift her spirit up".

Lexington Police continue to investigate this crash.
