Lexington Streets & Roads department received final salt shipments today as they prepare for the winter blast on Friday. They are stocked with nearly 6,000 tons of salt, but have managed to stay on budget for this winter season.
Sam Williams, Lexington Streets & Roads, says, "We're prepared...The biggest issue is the timing of the event as it should arrive during the evening rush hour."
Williams fears that high volume of traffic when the wintry weather arrives could make treating of the roadways more difficult. Lexington plans to re-evaluate snow plans for the city next week. They will be making revisions of the snow plan currently in place to make pre-treating more efficient.
