The Lexington Fraternal Order of Firefighters will dedicate its memorial to fallen firefighters Monday.
The campaign to build the monument at Phoenix Park in downtown Lexington started in 2008.
In addition to donations, it is being paid for by selling commemorative bricks around the base of the monument.
Monday's date was chosen because the two latest firefighter deaths in Lexington happend during the month of February. Lt. Brenda Cowan was killed on the job in 2004. Firefighter Chuck Williams, Jr. died while battling a house fire in 1997.
Five other Lexington firefighters have also died in the line of duty and will have their names listed on the monument, as well.
