A man was stabbed at a home on Charles Avenue, which is off Newtown Pike, but the victim, who was wearing an unusual choice of clothing, ended up running to a neighbor's home for help.
The last thing Hassizettie McCann expected was for her front porch to turn into a crime scene, but now she's reluctant to even open her door. "Told me not to open the door, not come out it because they have blood here, and they was going to come and clean it back up, said it was on the wall and on the door and on the porch," McCann said.
It was just after 3 o'clock when a noise woke McCann from her afternoon nap. "I heard somebody banging on the door, and I got up, looked out, I didn't see nobody, and I came to the door and seen him laying down there on the porch," McCann told 27 Newsfirst.
Muhammad Jabbaar was nearby when he saw his friend Jackie Brown run across the street. "He was laying on the porch. He couldn't say nothing. I kept trying to talk to him, Jackie, you alright, you alright, you alright? He never responded to me," Jabbaar said.
Paramedics treated Brown for multiple stab wounds to the torso, then rushed him to UK hospital. Friends and neighbors say at the time Brown was wearing nothing but a pair of pants and a bra. Asked if it was typical for him to wear women's clothing, McCann said it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for him to be wearing a bra and women's clothing.
Many in the neighborhood say Brown was well-liked, but McCann says Brown did encounter hostility from time to time about his choice of clothing.
Shortly after the assault, police were uncertain about a motive or even a suspect description. Friends say they can't understand why anyone would attack Brown. Investigators were not able to get a suspect description. They're asking anyone with information to call Lexington Police.
