The Lexington Road Department has been working to cleanup potholes since the start of spring. Four crews were sent out to repair potholes Monday morning.

Since February more than 5000 potholes have been repaired in Lexington. Road officials say they expect to repair another 2200 potholes by the end of the month.

"One always talks about April showers brings May flowers, but winter snow brings potholes and that's what we are dealing with in the middle of April" says Sam Williams of Lexington's Streets and Roads Department.

Williams says the long winter and several days of extremely cold temperatures are to blame for some of the more severe damages to the road.

Anyone that sees a pothole in Lexington can report it to Lexcall by dialing 311 from your cell phone.
