A fire on the roof of the Lexington police department evacuated employees and brought dozens of firefighters to the scene.
Investigators say a small pile of wood caught fire on the roof of the building between the parking garage and Park plaza apartments. The only thing on the roof are a couple of air conditioners, causing investigators to question how the wood got there and if it could have been thrown there.
A Lexington police officer used a fire extinguisher to put the fire out before firefighters arrived. Now, investigators are trying to figure out if someone intentionally set it.
Dozens of police personnel were evacuated for about 15 minutes, before being allowed back in the building.
