Courtney Bishop was sentenced to the recommended five years behind bars, but her attorney did say during court proceedings, he will be seeking shock probation soon.
Last month, while pleading guilty to reckless homicide in connection to her son's death, Bishop told a judge her actions led to the death of her son, Caleb.
Caleb was beaten to death three years ago and died in Bishop's care.
The former music teacher at Christ the King was taken into custody following the sentencing.
Her attorney says he plans to get the wheels in motion for shock probation as soon as this afternoon. He is planning to start sending letters from family members and friends to the judge for him to review.
