A woman says a walk to her car took a dangerous turn when she was nearly kidnapped at gunpoint.
The woman tells Lexington Police she ran from the gunman outside Fayette Mall on Nicholasville Road just before 10 p.m. Monday.
She was able to flag down another driver, who called 911 and followed the suspect.
The suspect ran to the Cinemark Cinemas, where police say he dropped electrical tape, a backpack and a weapon, which turned out to be a pellet gun.
Police charged Jamaal Harville, 19, with criminal attempt to kidnapping.
Officers say Harville told them he was trying to ask the woman for the time.
He will answer to the charge in Fayette District Court Tuesday afternoon.
