A rough start for several people living along Cricklewood Drive in Lexington.

"I woke up to take my son to school and seen everything was thrown around in my car," explained Shanell Perkins.

She says her stereo system, TVs and some other things were stolen from her truck early this morning. But there wasn't any shattered glass in sight.

"My car has an alarm on it," Perkins explained. " I guess it was someone who knew what they were doing. I was asleep right here on the couch and didn't hear anything."

Perkins says the person or people responsible went beyond her driveway and headed to the back of the home.

"The scariest part is was seeing that they tried to come in my house. They cut my screen door--- I guess they didn't have no luck; they didn't get in."

It has already been a difficult year for Perkins. Her younger brother, 17-year-old Ali Shalash, was shot and killed in a home on Dorset Drive. Just last week, the teen accused in his death, Jamar Mays, was in court. Perkins says teens everywhere need to find more constructive things to do with their time.

"Get a job. Find something else to do with your time."

Police say luckily nobody was hurt. They say they are still searching for the people responsible for the crimes.
