A new South Limestone will open Friday after nearly a year of construction, blocked sidewalks and a torn up street.
It's also reopening ahead of schedule.
A ribbon cutting was held on South Limestone opening the street and allowing traffic back through the heavily traveled area.
For the last year the construction has made it difficult to get to some of the businesses on South Limestone. Business owners and employees were on hand at the ribbon cutting to celebrate the re-opening of the street.
They hope the new look will bring more people to South Limestone.
"We're very excited. Improvement is not easy and sometimes you have to sacrifice and I think we did as business owners here and not that it's coming to an end we're getting very excited about that," says Mamadou Savane, the owner of Sav's Grill.
"We took the time as they renovated the street to renovate the bar to match the image of both and we're really impressed with how they turned out together. We're very happy to have it all done now," says Nick Carreiro with Two Keys Tavern.
A block party party is planned on June 19 to celebrate the year-long project being finished.
The reconstructed South Limestone features a bike lane, underground utilities, new street lights, curbside rain gardens and street trees.
Workers will also be adding a new benches, planters and bicycle racks.
