FEMA plans to open center in Lexington

Lexington mayor Jim Newberry announced Federal Emergency Management officials plan to open a disaster assistance center in Lexington.

This announcement brings the total number of counties in Kentucky designated for individual assistance to 62. The mayor says enough people reported damage from last month's flooding to qualify Lexington for federal help. The location of the center hasn't been determined yet, but it will help homeowners and renters get grants and low-interest loans to cover flood damage.
