Lawyer who ran newspaper ad after Comair plane crash reprimanded

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The Kentucky Supreme Court has reprimanded
a Florida lawyer who placed an ad in a Lexington newspaper
soliciting clients after the crash of Comair Flight 5191 in August
2006.
Debi Chalik of Plantation, Fla., pulled the advertisement
shortly after it appeared because of adverse publicity that it and
similar ads placed by other attorneys generated.
The reprimand, handed down Thursday, wasn't for placing the ad.
Instead, justices found that Chalik wasn't timely in submitting a
copy of the advertisement and a small fee to the Kentucky Bar
Association as required by a state rule.
Forty-nine people died when the Comair regional jet crashed
after taking off from the wrong runway at Blue Grass Airport in
Lexington.
