Police say he used a steak knife to carry out an overnight crime spree.
One man is now charged in two robberies at Shell gas stations in Lexington. They happened just hours apart on Richmond road and Harrodsburg Road.
Police caught with the suspect just minutes after the second robbery.
The robber first hit this Shell gas station here on Richmond Road. Then he headed across town, where he robbed the Shell station in Palomar Center. But he didn't get far from there before police caught up to him and made the arrest.
Police stopped 23-year-old Seth W. Drury on Wellington Way, putting an end to his morning crime spree.
Donta Pulliam was at the Richmond Road station, when Drury came inside.
"He's got this knife, and he's like, "give me the money," and all this other foolishness, and now he's coming behind the counter," Pulliam says.
He says the situation escalated, as Drury approached the clerk.
"He comes up, has her open the drawer, he takes the money and leaves and says, "okay you guys did the right thing," but he seemed timid and nervous about everything he was doing in the first place," Pulliam says.
Pulliam and the clerk then called police and described Drury and his green Jeep to them.
Shortly after that, police got the call about the second Shell station robbery in Palomar Center.
"The clerk made the comment to us that he wanted money, and she was obviously very upset and called 911," says Sgt. David Ashford with Lexington Police.
She described the same suspect and Jeep to police. They caught up with Drury, and arrested him.
Pulliam says he and the worker had one thing on their minds in the midst of the frightening robbery.
"I have a 10-month-old son, and am a husband-to-be pretty soon. And she has a two-month-old, so we were pretty much upset about the situation," Pulliam says.
Fortunately none of the employees at either of the Shell stations, nor any of the people in the gas stations at the time of the robberies were harmed or injured.
Drury was taken to police headquarters for questioning right after the arrest.
