Lexington Police Department apprehended a burglar during a break-in in progress On July 5, 2011 at Hospice of the Bluegrass corporate offices on Alexandria Drive after receiving verified audio and noises from Sonitrol of Lexington’s central monitoring station.
Jamie Cason, Director of Facilities at Hospice of the Bluegrass, advised that he received a call from Sonitrol’s Central Monitoring Station at 4:04am. The operator allowed Cason to listen to the audio, which Cason initially identified as “early trash pickup.” Minutes later, another call from the central monitoring station to Cason confirmed they heard breaking glass and voices. The police were then immediately dispatched.
Arriving on the scene and using K-9 assistance, LPD officers tracked down the assailant who was then tasered and taken into custody. Cason advised that an assailant busted out the window and attempted to steal computers from their Corporate Office location.
