Board of Health selects new chair, vice-chair for 2013-14

The Lexington-Fayette County Board of Health has elected Scott White as chair and Dr. John P. Riley as vice-chair for the 2013-14 fiscal year beginning July 1. White will be the first non-medical/public health official to lead the board in its history.

White is a lead trial lawyer for Morgan & Pottinger, P.S.C., a full-service law firm representing financing institutions, businesses and individual clients throughout Kentucky and Indiana. He has more than 25 years of experience in complex civil and commercial litigation in the courtroom, including service as an Assistant Deputy Attorney General from 1996-2003. White leads M&P’s litigation practice group and criminal law practice, which focuses on “white collar” and financial crimes. He also serves on the board of directors for Jubilee Jobs of Lexington and the Governor’s Task Force on Early Child Development. White graduated with honors from the University of Kentucky and attended the UK College of Law.

Riley is a Lexington pediatrician whose time on the Board of Health includes previous terms as chair. He is a graduate of Bellarmine University, Johns Hopkins University for graduate school and the UK College of Medicine. He was a combat MP in Vietnam and completed his pediatric training at Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati.

Other board members include Gary Wallace, MD; Jackie Matar, MD; Nat Sandler, MD; Kacy Allen-Bryant, RN, BSN, MSN; Pamela Stein, DMD; Robert Lynch, DVM; Jason Lee, JD and CPA; Chris Ford; Beth Mills, MSW; and Sandy Canon. One at-large position remains to be filled.
