Cash register stolen in smash-and-grab at Lexington store

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington Police are investigating a burglary in Lexington overnight Wednesday.

It happened just before 3:00 a.m. Wednesday morning at Sandy's Sewing Center on Regency Road.

"I work hard for my money. And it's not fair for someone to just be able to come in and take it out," said store owner Sandy Reid.

Investigators say someone threw a brick through a shop window and made off with the cash register.

"You just can't let people go around smashing windows and crashing through doors and taking things away. That's not the way society works, so we have to be more civilized about things," Reid said.

Police used K-9 units in their investigation to search the building for clues.

Over the past month police have had their hands full with similar burglaries all around town.
Lexington Police Spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts gave us this statement on the near dozen burglaries investigators are looking into:

"Lexington Division of Police detectives are working to solve each of these cases, and working to see any connections. As always, we welcome the help of the public. Anyone with information can contact us at 859-258-3600."

They have no suspects at this time.
