NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - A mother is grieving after her son was hit and killed by a train earlier this week. The Fayette County coroner tells us Frank Gautier, 31, of Nicholasville was killed. It happened Friday morning in Lexington.

Frank Gautier was her son, the father of two young kids, and a friend to many in Nicholasville.

"He was a great guy," said Ann Grautier, Frank's mother. "Yeah, he knew everybody."

Ann Gautier says 31 years wasn't long enough for her son who she says was full of life and had many, many years left in him.

"He spun me around on the floor three times, saying, 'You've got to come with us,'" said Ann Gautier. "And I said, 'No, no. I'm in for the evening.' And he hollered at somebody, 'Pick her up. We're taking her with us anyway!' And that's the last time I ever saw him."

That was Thursday night, and it's a mystery to her what he was doing on the railroad tracks near Regency Circle in Lexington on Friday morning.

"I don't believe that he was suicidal in any way," said Ann Gautier.

This mother says she's kind of in a daze, trying to wrap her mind around it all.

September 5 will mark the one-year anniversary of Gautier and his mother opening an electronic cigarette store in Nicholasville. Now this mother hopes that she can keep this shop and another shop in Lexington running in honor of her son.

"This was his big dream. He quit smoking cigarettes in April 2013, and he came to me, 'Mom, we've gotta open a vapor shop,'" said Ann Gautier. "And so we did."

She says managing Big Blue Vapor without her right-hand man will be tough. But for now, she's focused on other things.

"Somebody needs to investigate the last people he was with, just talk to them," said Ann Gautier. "Nobody has even contacted me. I want the truth, whatever that truth, I just want to know the truth. What he was doing. What happened to him."

The Fayette County coroner's report we got on Sunday does say the investigation is still pending, saying Gautier died from multiple traumatic injuries after being hit by that train. His funeral has not yet been arranged.
