Lexington Police and the coroner are on the scene of a developing situation in Lexington, on Trade Center Drive near Fortune Drive. Lexington Police do have their mobile crime unit there.

Police tell us they found a body in a trash container after receiving a tip in a missing person's case. They've been looking into that case since December but are not linking it to the body at this time. "While one piece of evidence led us here, we can't say conclusively that this is the missing person. I just want to be careful about that right now because it is just too early," said police spokeswoman, Sherelle Robert.

The coroner tells us the body found was mummified. He says he is investigating the death as a homicide. "Any time you find a human in a herbie, that's in an area like an industrial park, that's an unusual circumstance." He says the body will be taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Frankfort. Gary Ginn says he hope dental records will help identify the person.

We have a crew on the scene and will have a live update on 27 NEWSFIRST beginning at 5pm.
