Couple tying the knot on a float during 4th of July parade

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) One couple will be celebrating more than independence on the Fourth of July---they'll also be celebrating love.

They’re planning to get married on the holiday but this wedding has an unusual twist.

Kelly Bakehorn was the one who came up with the concept of organizing a unique “Grand Reserve Wedding Giveaway.”

Bakehorn decided to hold a contest for couples looking to get married by asking them one question-- why did they deserve to win the wedding of their dreams at no cost?

The contest quickly caught the eye of Lacy Proctor.

“I wrote about our daughter and how she was diagnosed with leukemia last October,” Proctor said.

Proctor and her fiancé Travis had to postpone their wedding for years in order to take care of their 3-year-old daughter Abby.

Not long after Lacy sent the letter, she learned they were selected to be the lucky couple and the winners “Grand Reserve’s Wedding Giveaway.”

“Its like a dream come true, you don’t ever think you’ll win something like this. You don’t dream of winning a $25,000 wedding,” Travis said.

Everything from the dress and decorations to the flowers and food have been donated for their big day.

“There’s no way we would’ve been able to put something like this together,” Proctor told us Wednesday.

But this couple won't be saying "I Do" in a traditional setting. Instead, they'll be tying the knot atop a float in Lexington’s 4th of July Parade. Lacy and Travis say they always wanted a unique, unconventional wedding.

The couple's reception will also be free of cost because of donations from local vendors.

Employees with the Grand Reserve say they have decided to make this contest an annual giveaway.
