Traffic was a mess as the state police accident reconstruction unit worked the scene until around four Wednesday afternoon.
"This individual did just about everything you can do to get away from law enforcement," said Trooper Ronald Turley.
Investigators say a Kentucky State Police detective heading into Lexington on other business noticed the driver of this SUV weaving recklessly through traffic.
When he turned on his lights to pull his over, he took off.
At one point, he nearly hit a Lexington Police officer.
"Lexington Metro was trying to put out stop sticks to stop the guy, he tried to run over him. So this guy is looking at some pretty serious charges," said Turley.
State Police actually called off the pursuit between Harrodsburg Road and Nicholasville Road and lost the suspect.
It wasn't until minutes later, they saw the end result.
"We didn't know up until now that it was a pursuit. We thought the guy was just driving fast. He hit two other cars, and then he ran," said a witness to the wreck.
The man didn't get too far though, police caught up with him in an area off Redding Road on Alpine Court.
Police say the man arrested is 24-year-old Joshua Garvin of Lexington.
He faces fourteen charges including wanton endangerment, DUI, and assault.
