Crime Stoppers: Woman fails at one robbery, succeeds at another

Updated: Tue 12:33 PM, Feb 14, 2012

On Christmas Eve of 2010, police say a woman robbed the Marathon Station on North Broadway with a baseball bat. Minutes before, police say she also tried to rob the Shell just up the street on East New Circle.

"She didn't have a weapon. The (first) clerk kind of thought it was a joke and blew her off. She learned to bring a weapon," said Detective Robert Sarantonio.

Police say with the bat, the woman was able to get away with some cash. Now police say they think she's still in the area.

"We believe she's in the area because the time, from one robbery to the next, she was able to go somewhere and get a baseball bat. If she doesn't live in the area, then she knows people nearby," said Det. Sarantonio.
