A fiery crash has claimed a life.
The crash happened Wednesday morning just after midnight on Hume Road.
Police say the driver lost control in a curve and smashed into a tree. They say the Chevrolet Silverado then caught fire. WKYT has learned police think speed was a factor.
Officials say there was ammunition inside the vehicle. Popping sounds could be heard for awhile after the collision.
The identity of the person killed is not yet known. Due to the fiery crash, police haven't even determined whether the driver was a man or a woman.
Several people that live along Hume Road would like to see more of a police presence there to help prevent drivers from speeding.
Bobby Murphy lives on Hume Road and says he sees car crashes there weekly, "We'd love to see it back the way it used to be. Just a quiet and people respecting our road. But everybody is in a hurry."
