For the most part, the state of Kentucky have been able to avoid getting a lot of the white stuff-- up until recently.
Road crews say they are prepared for the snow and urge drivers to make sure they are as well. "You never get the salt you need or the ice scrapper that has been missing since last winter until its too late" explains Lexington driver Matt Franklin.
Franklin is just one of the many folks out and about this evening buying last minute items to prepare for the overnight snow expected in the forecast. "I hope people drive safe," explains Franklin, "I don't think that people realize that a part of preparing. They don't think about how much increased stopping distance they need to leave between them and the car in front of them."
Police say since the recent snow fall there have been an increase in weather related accidents. They urge all drivers to play it safe and drive slow in snowy conditions. The roads can be slick and black ice is always something they urge drivers to watch out for.
