Family members are relieved that James Brandon Harrison wasn't hurt worse after his car went off an embankment in Rockcastle County late Thursday night.
"You know, it's that phone call you don't want to get. As a parent, it is what you fear."
Wilma and James J. Harrison tell us that they received a phone call early Friday morning about their sons accident. "He said he slipped,"
explains Harrison's father, "he tried to correct but he over corrected. He thought he was thrown out of the car at first."
Harrison's car went 100 feet down an embankment and was unable to be seen by drivers passing by. "He said at one point that he thought he would just die," explains Harrison's mother. "He's a fighter. I wouldn't expect anything less from him."
With broken bones all over his body, Harrison crawled up the embankment and laid on the side of the road hoping for someone to drive by. "All of the sudden as he was trying to crawl to a nearby house his friend Ricky drove by. He immediately put him in his car and drove him to meet emergency services. He's a life saver, I don't know how he would have survived much longer."
Harrison was transported to UK hospital.
UK hospital officials tell us that Harrison is in fair condition.
