Fayette County Schools announce make-up day

The first snow day of the year also brings the first make-up day of the year.

As you know, the Fayette County Public Schools were closed yesterday, March 5, 2012, due to snowy weather conditions. To make up the missed instructional time, the district will use the first weather make-up day that was built into the 2011-20112 calendar.

Students in the Fayette County Public Schools will now have school on April 27, 2012. The original FCPS academic calendar called for students to be off that Friday, but designated it as a “possible weather make-up day.” Students and staff are now expected to be in school on April 27, 2012.

The change does not affect the last day of school, which is still scheduled to be May 24, 2012.

If needed, other possible weather make-up days built into the school calendar include May 4, May 25, May 29-31, June 1, and June 4-8.

High school graduation dates will not be set until after the threat of bad weather has passed and all make-up days have been scheduled.
