LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - After gunshots rang out near Shropshire Avenue and Third Street in Lexington early Sunday morning, police stopped a group of young men in a car.
Investigators tell us they didn't find the shooter but they did find three guns and drugs.
Police say the driver of the car, Ronnell Suter, 24, was with Antoine Clay, 21, Robert Crawford, 20, Lavonne Smith, 21, and Dontrell Turner, 21.
"All five people have been arrested for various charges including warrants, carrying concealed deadly weapons and possession of marijuana. At least one person was arrested for possessing a handgun as a felon. It's also my understanding that one of the guns was stolen," said Lt. Chris Van Brackle.
Investigators tell us they are checking the guns to see if they have been used in any of the unsolved crimes in the area.
We spoke with several people who live nearby, while they didn't want to be identified, they said they aren't surprised by the gunfire or the arrests because it's a story that repeats itself again and again in the community.
Police say they don't know why someone fired as many as 12 gunshots Sunday morning but they say no one was hurt.
