Even though Kentucky had its biggest day of the week, Florida still came out on top of Big Blue Slam, 1,744 to 1,502.
“Donors this week really showed what’s important by braving the elements to save lives,” said Martha Osborne, Executive Director of Marketing and Recruitment for Kentucky Blood Center (KBC).
“Although we lost this fun competition, the good news is we are heading into February with a strong blood supply for the nearly 70 Kentucky hospitals we serve. After all the blood drive cancellations in January, we really needed a week like this. Thanks to the generous Big Blue Nation for rolling up their sleeves,” said Osborne.
The sixth annual Big Blue Slam is a blood drive contest between Cat and Gator fans and KBC and LifeSouth Community Blood Center in Gainesville. The competition is now tied 3 to 3.
