Kentucky Blood Center (KBC) will be hosting a food truck for the Beaumont area at Beaumont Donor Center this Friday. Friday is also World Blood Donor Day.
The Bradford BBQ truck, which will start serving at 11 a.m. and be open to the public, will be parked in KBC’s rear parking lot at 3121 Beaumont Centre Circle.
“Kentucky patients depend on KBC blood donors because the blood donated here stays here and helps our friends and neighbors,” said Bill Reed, KBC President and CEO. “This Friday our neighbors can buy their lunch at the food truck and, hopefully, stop by later to save a life by donating blood.”
Friday is also the final day to become eligible to win two tickets to see Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band Tuesday, July 16 at Cincinnati’s Riverbend Music Center. Anyone who registers to donate through Friday is automatically entered to win.
Also, as part of KBC’s summer promotion – Drive for Life – anyone who registers to donate blood through Sept. 13 is also eligible to win a 2013 Toyota Prius.
Because Drive for Life runs through Sept. 13, donors can give blood and be entered into the drawing more than once this summer.
To find a blood drive or schedule a donation, visit kybloodcenter.org or call 800.775.2522.
Blood donors must be 17-years-old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health and meet additional requirements. Sixteen-year-old donors must also have a signed parental permission slip, which can be found at kybloodcenter.org. All donors must present a photo I.D.
KBC, the largest FDA regulated blood bank in Kentucky, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring a safe, adequate blood supply for patients at nearly 70 Kentucky hospitals and clinics in more than 60 counties. KBC relies on volunteers to donate 400 pints of blood per day to meet area patients’ needs. Over the last year KBC distributed nearly 130,000 blood components.
