FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The 76th Governor's Derby Celebration will be held in downtown Frankfort.
First lady Jane Beshear said she and Gov. Steve Beshear look forward to hosting the event and welcoming guests.
The free public celebration will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. EDT May 5.
The governor said the business district's blend of notable landmarks and distinctive shops and restaurants make it "the perfect backdrop for this traditional celebration."
Pork and beef producers will prepare breakfast food to sell, and there will be entertainment, a farmers market, arts and crafts and children's activities. Visitors will be able to tour the Old State Capitol, museums and other attractions, and many downtown businesses will be open.
The Red Cross will discuss its recent tornado relief efforts and accept donations.
