A judge plans to hear more Tuesday about whether a man convicted of murdering his wife deserves a new trial.
Last week, a judge said she needed more time to decide whether Donald Southworth should stand trial again for killing his wife, Umi, nearly two years ago in Lexington.
Judge Kim Bunnell said when jurors requested to see a copy of some divorce papers during deliberations, they were given a copy of something else than what was presented at trial.
If the judge denies the request for a new trial, Southworth's attorneys can appeal following Southworth's sentencing, which is scheduled for later this month.
