Inmate at Lexington jail dies at hospital

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - The Fayette County coroner's office has identified a jail inmate who died after being taken to the hospital for a medical emergency.

The inmate was identified as 37-year-old Jeffrey M. McKinney of Frankfort.

A statement from the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government Division of Community Corrections says the inmate was taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Center shortly before 7 p.m. EDT Tuesday. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

An autopsy to determine the cause of death is pending.
