“It’s A Wonderful Life” actress visits Central Kentucky this Friday

Asbury University will host Karolyn Grimes — who played the part of Zuzu Bailey in the classic holiday film “It’s a Wonderful Life” — on Dec. 2 for a behind-the-scenes look at the film and a special screening of the movie that is free and open to the public. Grimes will share her story, along with clips and stories from the movie, in a presentation starting at 7 p.m. in Hughes Auditorium, and after a reception in the Student Center, the movie will be shown (approx. 9:30 p.m.).

This year marks the 65th anniversary of the film’s release. One of director Frank Capra’s most popular movies, and starring Jimmy Stewart, “It’s a Wonderful Life” did not garner much critical or box-office acclaim initially. However, television play during the 1970s helped the film establish a secure position as a holiday tradition for generations of families. As the only living cast member, Grimes’ recollections of the film’s birth offer a unique perspective on the making of an American classic.

Again, anyone interested in interviewing Karolyn or attending the event as credentialed media, should contact me at (859) 553-3797. There are still a few open hours for interviews on her itinerary and media seating can be arranged.
