The Lexington Convention and Visitors Bureau (LCVB) is pleased to announce John G. McNamara as the newest member of the LCVB Commission. Mr. McNamara is a Market Partner with Bluegrass Hospitality Group (BHG) and is an Active Director in the Bluegrass Chapter of the Kentucky Restaurant Association.
The LCVB Commission is made up of nine individuals, including one seat nominated by the Bluegrass Chapter of the Kentucky Restaurant Association which represents the nearly 500 restaurants in Lexington.
From casual to fine dining, Lexington is experiencing a tremendous growth of excellent, locally owned and operated restaurants catering to a wide variety of palates. With all of the new restaurants and long-standing Lexington favorites, the city is quickly becoming known as a culinary tourism destination.
One year ago, as a result of visitor demand, the LCVB created Beyond Grits, a culinary guide to Lexington. The guidebook has been well received by leisure visitors as well as meetings and conventions attendees. The success of Beyond Grits prompted the LCVB to organize Lexington's first Restaurant Week scheduled for July 25 through August 3rd.
"We believe the time is now to showcase the remarkable culinary talent found within Lexington", said Jim Browder, LCVB president. "We welcome John to our Commission and look forward to utilizing his insights as an executive of one of Lexington's most popular restaurant groups, BHG. We are just beginning to market Lexington as a culinary destination and feel there are tremendous opportunities for growth ahead", said Jim Browder, LCVB president.
