LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - On Wednesday afternoon, Lexington Police arrested a man suspected in two early morning robberies.
Brandon Ridley, 23, is charged with two counts of first degree robbery. Police say the first robbery happened around 7:30 a.m. on Woodland Avenue.
Lexington Police tell us Ridley walked up to a man asking for directions, then pointed a revolver at him, and demanded money. We're told he took off after stealing the man's wallet.
Police say Ridley did the same thing to another person just 15 minutes later. Police tell us the second robbery happened on Lakeshore Drive. It's something David Steele's friend, who lives nearby, actually witnessed.
"He saw someone actually running from the guy that was robbed and that he had gotten in the car and took off and later discovered that they had robbed him," said David Steele, who lives on Lakeshore Drive.
That robbery happened not far from Ridley's home on St. Margaret Drive.
"In both cases, the victims had cash taken from them. From the second victim, we developed information that led us to this address here on Saint Margaret where we have what we believe to be suspect's vehicle involved. After further investigation, we have taken the suspect into custody," says Lt. Raymond Roller with Lexington Police.
Police arrested him there at his home.
"I mean if you're going to pull a gun on somebody and rob them, I mean you need to do the time," said Steele. "Pay for the consequences of doing that."
Police tell us the victims in these robberies are not connected to the suspect in any way. And no one was injured during the robberies.
Ridley is now booked in the Lexington-Fayette County Detention Center.
