Lexington city pools announce end of season schedule

We now know when Lexington's public pools and aquatic centers will close for the season.

Douglass and Picadome pools will close on Sunday, Aug. 5.

The four aquatic centers at Castlewood, Southland, Tates Creek, Woodland and Shillito will stay open until Tuesday, Aug. 14.

Tates Creek and Woodland will remain open until Labor Day, which is Monday, Sept. 3.

Operating hours for August 1st - 5th are 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 - 8 p.m. on Sunday for Castlewood, Tates Creek and Woodland.

Operating hours at Southland will be 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Monday through Saturday and 1 - 8 p.m. on Sunday.

All aquatic facilities will close at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14.

August 14 is the last day for Southland, Castlewood and Shillito pools.

From Aug. 15 through Sept. 3, Woodland and Tates Creek will be open from 4-7 p.m., Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturday and 1-7 p.m. on Sunday. Labor Day (September 3) is the last day for Tates Creek and Woodland with operating hours of 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

According to Parks and Recreation, the community is invited to come out from noon - 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11 for the "Back to School Blast" at the Southland Aquatic Center. This pool party will feature music, games, giveaways and more.

All activities are free with your paid pool admission. Free admission will be granted to those patrons who bring school supplies which will be donated to a local charity.
