LEXINGTON, Ky (WKYT) - Emergency crews responded to the Carmike Theater on Mapleleaf Drive Friday morning for a report of a bomb threat.
First responders at the scene told us a bomb threat was called into Carmike's corporate office in Georgia. The threat didn't indicate a specific location, so emergency crews were called in to search Carmike theaters across the nation.
Lexington Police called in a bomb sniffing dog to do a sweep of the Carmike here after the corporate office contacted the local manager, who called police. No employees or customers were at the theater at the time the bomb threat was received.
After a search, Lexington Police say they found nothing, and gave the all clear at the theater.
The Carmike in Maysville was also searched this morning, but a person answering the phone at dispatch tells us it was given the go ahead to open for the day. Middlesboro Police say officers have already searched the Carmike there as well. The company also has theaters in Harlan and Hopkinsville.
