Lexington Police closed a portion of Cheryl Lane Thursday afternoon after receiving a tip of a possible meth lab.
Police did tell us they found a lab in the home, but would not say if it was a meth lab. Police said the lab was not active when they entered the home. Haz-mat crews were called in and are taking all precautions necessary for a meth lab investigation, including decontaminating the people who live in the home.
Crews are also decontaminating the first two police officers who arrived at the home.
Neighbors tell us it's an older neighborhood and everyone living there is quiet and respectful of others. Many couldn't believe what police found inside the home.
"That'd be the last thing you'd expect is something to do with drugs in this neighborhood," said neighbor Roger Braugh.
"I didn't think that there could be a lab in this neighborhood, but yeah it's two houses down so it makes me kind of nervous," noted neighbor Zach Nicholas.
Police did arrest one person on drug charges, but they are not releasing his name at this time.
