The Nicholasville Road Animal Hospital has set up a donation drop off center inside their facility to collect items for displaced pets.

"With disasters like this there are families that have pets and those pets need help too," explains donation organizer Tammy Vallandingham. "Honestly, anything helps at a time like this. That saying every penny counts really pertains to these types of situations. If people just come by and drop off rags, food, kitty litter, even just one thing, it will make such a difference."

The animal hospital is collecting items like pet food, kitty litter, toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, newspaper, pet carriers, flea control medicine and bedding.

The hospital will be collecting donations indefinitely. They will go to East Bernstadt, an area badly damaged in last week's tornado outbreak.
