Lyric Theatre offering summer of free movies

The Lyric Theatre Picture Show announced that Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky is sponsoring a Free Summer Movie Series.

The Lyric Theatre is eager to return to its roots of featuring films for not only the youth of Lexington, but also its prized senior patrons, who grew up watching films as children at the Historic Lyric Theatre.

“It was important for The Lyric to bring back what we were once so fondly remembered for- our picture shows. Previous patrons are eager to share with us stories of how much time they spent at The Lyric watching movies and bonding with childhood friends. It is with great pleasure that we present this series,” says Lyric’s Executive Director Yetta Young.

Movies will be shown on Saturdays during June, July, August, with the last films in the series being shown during Roots and Heritage weekend, which is celebrated the second week of September each year.

Free Lunches will be provided for the first 50 youth 18 and under at 11:30am. Lunches will not be served during the months of August and September.
