LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A mailman was the target of a robber Wednesday afternoon, he was delivering a package on Winterberry Drive in Lexington before he was hit in the head.
The U.S. Postal Service says someone hit the man and stole money from his wallet. No mail was taken.
Officials say the mail carrier doesn't remember anything, other than waking up without his wallet.
He was taken to urgent treatment with a large contusion on his head.
"If he could do this to a postman. He can do it to anyone here," said Betty Whatley, a Winterberry Drive resident. "We want to find out who did it. This is our neighborhood and it's crime free and we want to keep it that way."
The post office is currently curtailing deliveries in the area Wednesday.
Deliveries will continue as normal Thursday in the neighborhood.
