LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police released the name of the man who they say is responsible for injuring a teenager in a hit and run crash.
Lexington Police arrested 34-year old Stewart Smith. He is charged with several offenses, including assault and driving under the influence.
According to police, Smith was driving a U-Haul when he hit a teenage girl along Richmond Road, near Old Todds Road. A driver who witnessed the crash said the teen was thrown several feet into the air.
Instead of stopping to help the victim, Police say Smith kept driving. They later spotted his U-Haul on Interstate-75.
Police also arrested his passenger, 34-year-old Alison Green. She's charged with possession of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence.
Both are set to appear in Fayette County District Court on Wednesday afternoon.
