LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police spent some time combing the streets, looking for evidence after multiple calls came in after a shooting at the 800 block of Charles Avenue. According to investigators two men were inside a white Chevrolet Caprice, when someone opened fire on the vehicle hitting it multiple times.
The male driver then continued down to the intersection of Georgetown Street and Elm Street before pulling into a parking lot at the Black and Williams Neighborhood Center. Police say one of the bullets went through the door and hit the driver in the left thigh. Investigators say he was taken to the hospital for treatment but they don't believe it to be a life-threatening injury. The male passenger was not injured.
Early in the investigation, police said they did not have any suspect information to go on because the victims were not being very cooperative. Police believe the shooter might have been in another vehicle when the shots were fired.
This shooting comes after multiple reports of shoots being fired around Lexington. Initially police cannot say if this is connected but an officer on the scene said the victim's white Caprice matches the description of the car reported in other calls of shots being fired.
