LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The shooting happened near the Catholic Action Center at 5th and Chestnut around 11:30 a.m.
A man was shot while walking down the street at 5th and Pemberton, according to Lexington Police. They say they don't believe he was was involved in the shooting, but may have been caught in crossfire.
The victim went to the center for help and paramedics took him to the hospital with non-lifethreatening injuries .
CAC director, Ginny Ramsey, says the man would come in from time to time to get a hot meal.
Police began searching the area and went to a home on Chestnut Street where they took two men into custody. Police told WKYT the two men had outstanding warrants and they were questioning them about the shooting to see if they had any connection.
One of the witnesses says she works at a daycare near where the shooting happened. She say's it's not uncommon to hear gunshots in that area.
"There's been several times that we've had to lock down due to the violence in the community," said Ebony Cowans.
Shell casings were collected by evidence teams and a bullet was found in the back panel of a van parked on 5th Street.
