"I have faith, or had faith in my Hoosiers. The Hoosier nation, I was pretty confident that we were gonna come out and give 'em a game. Confident enough that I put my hair on it," says Assistant Principal, Chad Carpenter, at Crawford Middle School.
The haircut wasn't even the worst part of the deal for Carpener.
"His attire last week seemed to be red and had, you know these other letters of IU on it. Today his shirt has the letters UK on it, he also has a UK belt on," says Mike Jones, the Principal at Crawford Middle School.
"It's uncomfortable. It doesn't feel right," says Carpenter.
Carpenter's wife and son came to the school this afternoon, not for moral support but instead to cheer on the cats and even help shave his head.
The students piled into the gym to hear Carpenter give a speech prepared for by principal Jones commending the Wildcats.
After that, Carpenter was seating in a chair in the middle of the gym with a UK towel over him. Carpenter's wife and Mr. Jones helped to shave his head for all to see.
At first, the barbers shaved the letters UK into the back of his head before shaving it all off.
Jones and Carpenter say the students were excited all week about the haircut performance today.
Carpenter admits he will cheer on the Cats when his Hoosiers are not in it.
When asked if he would be wagering the same bet next year for the Indiana versus Kentucky game, Carpenter said, "Without a doubt."
