Lexington Police are investigating a shooting, where a man was shot multiple times.

The victim was shot at least once in the chest at a home on Whitney Woods Place, near Versailles Road, just after 4 a.m.

The suspect called police after the shooting, allegedly telling police he shot the victim to protect his sister.

Police had already received a call from the sister, saying someone had been shot.

The names of the suspect and victim haven't been released.

While a 27 NEWSFIRST crew was reporting on Whitney Woods Way around 5:30 a.m., they heard the sound of a gun shot.

WKYT's Angela Beavin then saw a man with a gun run across the street into another home.

That man was later taken into custody.

It's not known if it's related to the shooting that injured the man earlier.
